WBL Month #2: Uncommon Loon Brewing Company

One of many things that Willie’s bucket list taught me was that breweries may be the most dog friendly establishments in today’s society. Obviously breweries have been all the rave for a few years now. And I’ve always liked their vibes…the string lights, the one guy (or gal) in the corner with an acoustic guitar, the games, the fact that at many of them you can ORDER PIZZA TO BE DELIVERED (as someone who lives in the boonies and doesn’t have this option on the day-to-day, this is pretty fun). My fondness for breweries doubled though as I planned out Willie’s monthly events and began to realize just how many of them allow your furry family members to hang out. Over the next twelve months I learned that some breweries are simply ok with you bringing your dog in because it’s good for business and others LOVE when you bring your dog in. Uncommon Loon Brewing Company in Chisago City, MN was the perfect first brewery for Willie to visit because they are the WE LOVE YOUR DOG kind.

When my friend Ashley and I got to Uncommon Loon, it was clear by the sign on the door that Willie was welcome inside. It was a chilly May afternoon for our adventure, so we elected to stay indoors. There is a small patio area though for when the weather cooperates. There is a beautiful event center within the brewery that can be rented for private events and that is also used to host trivia nights, music, and other brewery-led activities. Every wall displayed the work of local artists. Uncommon Loon has 16 rotating taps, and their variety of flavored seltzers ensure that there’s a beverage even a non-beer drinker like me will enjoy. I loved mixing the raspberry seltzer with other flavors like lime! Not only do they have water bowls available for your pup (this seems to be the norm in dog-friendly establishments), they have containers of dog treats available all around the seating area, and dog merch for purchase. In my opinion, Uncommon Loon Brewing Company is well above average in both dog friendliness and beverage taste. I would say Willie and the many other dogs visiting the brewery that day would have to agree!
