100 Dreams

I am going to take a brief pause from the stories of my travel challenge to share with you all the latest challenge/bucket list/goal I’ve started working on. My friend Erin and I have a book club. I use that term loosely… really it consists of she and I alternating choosing a book that we both read around the same relative time and briefly discuss afterward. Still, it counts. A while ago, we were on a real self-help book kick. One of the books we read was called Tranquility by Tuesday. In the book, author Laura Vanderkam suggested writing out a list of 100 dreams, big or small. At the time, I had completed my travel challenge and was actively tagging along with Willie as he checked off items on his bucket list. The only other “bucket list” item I had in my head for myself was that I wanted to do one thing in each of the 50 states. So, I started my 100 dreams list by listing each state that I had not yet stepped foot in. Needless to say, the first 30ish items of my dream list came real easy. Piling on another 70 or so took some time though. I finished reading Tranquility by Tuesday on August 2nd, 2023. Nine months later, I finished writing my 100 dreams list (May 2024). By the time I had finished my list, I had checked off two of the items that I had written down early on. A) completing Willie’s bucket list and 2) seeing the Northern lights (pictured below, I’ve been blessed to see them twice now). One of the greatest joys in my life right now is working on the other 98 items. Now, the idea of a bucket list has been around for years. So the concept of a 100 dreams list isn’t really new. It’s just one of many variations floating around modern society. I chose not to put a timeframe on my 100 dreams because I really did not include anything that is part of my day-to-day life. I will have to work hard in one way or another to achieve each of my remaining dreams. I know at the end, just like my travel challenge and Willie’s bucket list, it’s going to feel so amazing. Cheers to the lessons I’ll learn along the way, and the people who will help me learn them! To seeking! To finding!
