Item #65 on my 100 Dreams list was to help someone else check something off THEIR bucket list. So, on Sunday August 25th, 2024, I tagged along as my friend Brianne and I attended a concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado (and by tagged along, I mean I was dying to go). Red Rocks is 100% worth all the hype you guys. Situated between two red stone cliffs, the view from the theatre is stunning. The whole set up is great, with an area above the seats dedicated to food, drink, and merch and ample drink stations and bathrooms on both sides as well. Between the cleanliness of the entire venue and the reusable drink cups, it was obvious that Red Rocks is doing what they can to participate in the green initiative that seems to be a priority in the state of Colorado.
The show kicked off with a performance by Kassi Ashton, an artist that I’d never heard of but who is making waves all over Nashville. The audience was loving her gypsy vibes, and the acoustics were spectacular. The second performer, Cody Kent, sounded equally fantastic and his high energy had the crowd beyond pumped for the main act, Parker (aka my boyfriend) McCollum. It was around then that the beautiful sunset sky turned dark, and it started to rain…pouring rain. Despite the fact that I hate being cold (wet AND cold, I was very glad I had followed Brianne’s lead and changed from shorts to pants before the show) I decided to embrace the rain. Dancing and singing along to “Blanco County Rain” was beyond cathartic. I’m certain that even though I was “helping someone else check an item off their bucket list,” I got just as much out of the experience as she did.
